September 18-23 at Suttle Lake Camp
This will be the first of its kind for our region - in that it has never been done in the fall before! The leader of this adult event is birding and outdoor expert Rev. Jim Monroe, who will be assisted by Janet Lamberson.
The plan is to meet at Suttle Lake Camp September 18, 2016, and return to the camp Sept. 23, in mid-afternoon. Housing will be provided on Sunday at Suttle and Monday through Friday, we will be housed at the at Malheur Field Station. Provided that 10 people sign up, meals will be included in the $650 price.
Highlights will be time at Cabin Lake bird blinds, birding at Malheur (notably for rails, hawks and migratory water fowl), driving the Steens Mountain Loop and viewing amazing vistas and Keiger mustangs, Diamond Craters (including Malheur Maar), the Borax Works, shakes and burgers at Fields, and dinner out at Diamond Hotel or Frenchglen Hotel. There is also a possibility of viewing the Historic Sod Ranch and long barn, and (if reopened) Malheur Wildlife Refuge's HQ.
It will be an amazing time at an amazing price with amazing people!
