Now is the Time to Work on Legislation to Propose to Annual Conference Session in June
The Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference Session will be June 14-17 at the Red Lion Hotel and Conference Center at Jantzen Beach in Portland. Now is the time to draft legislation you would like to see presented to that body for approval in June.
If you believe that it would be good for the annual conference to change a rule, establish a new process, or make a statement about an issue, you (or our congregation) are encouraged to submit a petition. Go to www.umoi.org/forms and then select "Annual Conference Legislation" from the right hand menu. There you will find a document with guidelines for preparing and submitting legislation. Read that first to learn about the process, deadlines, and the help that is available to craft a clear and concise petition.
Please submit your proposed legislation by March 10. This will allow time for editorial assistance. The final deadline for submissions is April 1st, but those submitted after March 10 will not receive editorial assistance.
All proposed legislation will be considered at the Legislative Assembly on April 7. The Legislative Assembly will make a recommendation on each proposal to the full AC Session. Proposed legislation will be posted on the conference website with the Legislative Assembly recommendations by May 8 for all AC members to review prior to the meeting in June.

Come be inspired and strengthened in mind and soul, for the work of justice in the world! Consider how justice issues and movements intersect each other with intercultural, multidisciplinary processes.
The Western Methodist Justice Movement coalition is sponsoring a conference on Feb. 17-20 (President's Day Weekend) at the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Portland.
Two events at the conference are open to the public without registration or fee:

Learn Visitation Skills
The Care Team from Tabor Heights UMC in Portland is offering a visitation workshop for laity who wish to learn more about visiting those who may be sick, home bound, or in other various situations.
The workshop will be led by Rev. Dean Yamamoto, who is the Chaplain at Providence Medical Center and has 14 years experience in hospice work, and by Anne Kister, who has been with Providence Hospice since 2004. She spent many years providing support to people who were actively grieving the death of a loved one.
The workshop is Saturday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a fee of $10 per person or $25 for 3 or more from one church, which covers lunch and handouts.
