This week's e-newsletter highlights some opportunities for youth and young adults to explore their faith and their call.  There is a young adult retreat in the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference, which is open to Oregon-Idaho folks ages 18-35, focused on "The Call." And a new Bible Study and discipleship resource for youth that sounds intriguing. Check those out below.

June may seem like a long way off, but the plans for this year's Annual Conference Session are in full swing.  Registration will open April 1st.  Check out all the information at greaternw.org/ac2017. Do you have or are you a youth or young adult who would like to participate?  Watch for information coming soon on how youth can serve as pages at the meeting. Has your church already elected their lay member of annual conference?  If not, why not consider a youth or young adult member of your congregation?  Do you know a youth or young adult who would be interested in serving as a District equalization member of Annual Conference?  Let us know!

If you will be attending Annual Conference, now is the time to reserve your hotel room.  They are going fast!  This year's joint meeting of the Oregon-Idaho Annual Conference with the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference, under the leadership of our shared bishop, Elaine Stanovsky, will be a unique event with lots of special elements. Those who are planning the event are excited about what is in store.  But we recognize that there will be some challenges as well with this new venue and program.  If you are finding obstacles to your participation, please let us know in the District office.

Be sure to check out the upcoming events and prayer calendar to the right. And in the Resource Section, check out the tool to get you asking the right questions to reach out to new people . . . maybe some of those younger than yourself!

Keep up the good ministry!

"The Call" Young Adult Retreat

A weekend of exploration for discerning your spiritual gifts and call to serve.

In what ways does God call you to serve in the world?
Some are called to be teachers, social workers, or instruments of social justice and political change. Some are called to serve their churches as lay leaders or youth directors. Others are called to research diseases and find cures.
What are your gifts and how can you use these in service to others?
This retreat is a weekend workshop in spiritual exploration for adults ages 18-35. In fellowship, we learn new things about ourselves, and in reflection, we discover tools for hearing God in new ways.

Friday, March 31 @ 6:00 pm – Sunday, April 2 @ 1:00 pm
Ages: 18-35
Cost: $100
Organizers: Juli Reinholz and Paul Bland
Location: Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center, Ellensburg, WA

Lazy F is a United Methodist Camp in the PNW Annual Conference.  Juli Reinholz is Seven Rivers District Superintendent in the PNW Annual Conference. Oregon-Idaho Young Adults are welcome!

Where to Start to Reach New People

If your church wants to create new places for new people – one of the four areas of focus of The United Methodist Church – it’s important to understand the people you currently influence, those you want to reach and some of the barriers you’ll need to overcome to connect with those outside your natural affinity groups. Get “Starting New Places for New People,” a free resource from New Church Starts (Path 1), to begin discussions with leaders in your church. It helps you ask the questions you need to ask to begin reaching out in a smart way. For a free download, click here.
