Summer Transitions, Part 2
This newsletter is a bit late, and I realized there wasn't a whole lot new to tell you. The transitions continue!
The District Superintendent hand-over is taking place this week. Tim Overton-Harris, who will begin the DS job on July 1st, has received the keys to the office and moved in a lot of boxes, but there is still the task of assembling the desk and putting all the books on shelves. Tomorrow he will get the keys to the DS automobile, which is the DS's real office! Much has changed over the years, but the District Superintendent still carries out the Methodist tradition of doing ministry on the road as the old circuit riders did.
We are grateful for Steve Sprecher's work as the Cascadia District Superintendent these last six months. He stepped in courageously out of retirement and served faithfully and well. I know many of you are thankful for his guidance and support in the first half of this year. Best wishes to you and Lynda, Steve, as you return to retirement and plans for enjoying your family and travel!
With news of my assignment as lay supply pastor at Falls City UMC effective July 1st, many of you have asked if I am leaving the District office. I am not. I will continue in the role of Administrative Assistant for Cascadia District as I add the new role of quarter-time pastor to my plate. I am excited and humbled by this new opportunity, but I am also happy to continue to assist and support you in your ministries throughout the district.
There will be no district newsletter next week because of the Independence Day Holiday. We'll return to your inbox on Tuesday, July 11th with a column from new DS Tim Overton-Harris.
