Dear friends,

The days are still hot, but the nights are getting a touch cooler and apples are ripening.  The kids are getting ready for school and the district newsletter is chock-full of events -- it must be September!

Go ahead and skim all the events.  There is a summary of upcoming things of note on page 5, and a few surprises thrown in for good measure in the pages that follow.  No one could attend all of them, and please don't feel like you are expected to . . . but there may be one among them that responds to a yearning you have been having for learning or connection or action.

Also coming up of course are the Annual Fall Charge Conferences.  One of the responsibilities is to report on your church's Abuse Prevention ("Safe Sanctuary") Policy.  There is an article on page 14 which talks about the changes coming up in the requirements for that.

And you might be planning a Pancake Feed to inform your community about Imagine No Malaria.  Links to resources to help you do that are in the newsletter, as is a challenge from DS Peg -- she'll give a donation in your church's name to INM if you hold an event!

And Peg has a helpful reflection on how we can react to all the bad news we're hearing -- by relying on the good news that we have in Christ.

Just click here to download the newsletter as a .pdf file. (If you are using Firefox as your browser, you will have some trouble.See below for some suggestions)

You may read the newsletter online or print it out to read in your easy chair with your favorite beverage at your side.

Please let me know if you have any trouble with the download or any suggestions on how to make the newsletter more informative and useful for you.

Thank you for your service to Christ as a leader in your local congregation!

Grace and peace in Christ,

Linda

Suggestions for opening the newsletter in Firefox: 1) You can ask it to open the file with Adobe Reader rather than the Firefox .pdf viewer or 2) You can change your default in Firefox by (while in Firefox) pressing the "alt" kay, choosing tools, choosing options, choosing applications and under Portable Document Format change from "open in Firefox" to "use Adobe Reader", or 3) right click on the file and select download
