The February issue of the Cascadia District newsletter is ready for your reading pleasure by clicking here.   You can also access it from the Cascadia District webpage, www.umoi.org/cascadia and then select "Cascadia Newsletters" in the lower right-hand corner.*

This newsletter is long, but don't let that intimidate you!  Use the Contents section on the first page to pick and choose what you want to see.  The link there will take you directly to that article.

But you can't lose by reading the whole thing!  This month we have:

  • Inspiring essays by both our District Superintendent and our District Lay Lader
  • Information on how to volunteer for General Conference and attend the amazing worship that will take place there
  • Mission stories galore!
    • Mission Advocates will be visiting, and GBGM will help you plan a mission celebration at your local church
    • Forest Grove and Astoria UMC's share inspiring stories of how reaching out at Christmas warmed their hearts
    • A true story of refugee resettlement from Newberg FUMC, and how we all can be involved
  • Under Resources, don't miss these items:
    • videos and blogs to help you and your congregation talk about race and the divisions in our country with intelligence, spiritual wisdom and compassion
    • some new resources to help you continue your journey of repentance with Native Americans in your community
    • loans and grants available from the District Extension Society
    • and time to apply for college scholarships!
  • There is also information about upcoming events you'll want to get on your calendar

Thank you for your leadership in the local congregation.  Let me know how the district office can better support you in your work!

Grace and peace in Christ,

Linda Grund-Clampit
Cascadia District Administrative Assistant

*To open the file you will need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer.  If you do not have this program, you can download it free of charge at:  https://get.adobe.com/reader/? (be sure to "uncheck" the optional offer there!)

If you are opening the newsletter in Firefox or another Internet browser
Firefox and other browsers install their own pdf viewer which may prevent you from opening the file.  If you have trouble, try one of the following:
•    Choose to open the file with Adobe Reader rather than the Firefox or other .pdf viewer
•    Change your default in Firefox (while in Firefox) by pressing the "alt" key, choosing tools, choosing options, choosing applications, and under Portable Document Format, change from "open in Firefox" to "use Adobe Reader"
•    Right click on the file and select download.

If none of these work, contact me and we'll figure it out together!
