Worship Services are highlights of the Conference

Rev. Karen Hernandez, worship chairperson for the annual conference session shares, "When we gather for Annual Conference, we are about far more than business.  We worship at Annual Conference because we must!  It's not about obligation but rather about sharing in celebration, lament, and gratitude for God's presence within and among us in every time and place. "  All are invited to any and all of the worship services during the conference and many find them to be highlights. Please plan to join in!

1. Wednesday, June 13, 7:00 p.m. Boise 1st UMC, Emmaus Center

Memorial Worship will be led by Bishop Elaine JW Stanovsky, who will also deliver her episcopal address. Rev. Donna Pritchard has been invited to speak about the Commission on A Way Forward. An offering will be taken for Wilshire/Native American camps and outreach.

2. Thursday, June 14, 7:00 p.m. Commissioning Worship, Boise 1st UMC, Sanctuary

Dr. Leroy Barber will preach at this service and an offering will be taken for Kenya/Maua Methodist Hospital.

All clergy are invited and encouraged to participate in the commissioning service on Thursday.  Retirees should plan to robe and process.  All participating clergy should be robed with red vestments.  The Emmaus Center at Cathedral of the Rockies will open for robing at 6:15 p.m. All participants must be robed and lined up for the processional absolutely no later than 6:45 p.m. 

Transportation

On Wednesday and Thursday evenings there will be a shuttle bus from the Riverside Hotel to Boise 1st UMC.  It will load outside the Convention Center lobby beginning at 6:15 p.m. and depart at 6:30 p.m. Return trips will be at approximately 9:00 p.m. The bus holds up to 55 people.  Others are encouraged to carpool.

There will be nursery care at Boise 1st UMC for children aged birth through 4 years.

3. Saturday, June 16, 8:30 a.m., Closing Worship, Riverside Hotel Ballroom

We will give thanks for fruitful ministries, celebrate the reading of appointments, and anticipate God using us to continue transforming the world with love!  An offering will be taken for Wilder Hispanic Ministry.

Have Questions? Get answers at Member Orientation

The Oregon-Idaho Conference Lay Leader Jan Nelson will host an orientation session for new and returning members at the Riverside Hotel on Wednesday, June 13, from 4:30-5:30 p.m.  Legislative Coordinator Rev. Warren Light will also be present. Come learn about what is expected of members during the conference, how voting on legislation will work, and tips for sharing the story of the annual conference when you return to your congregation. The meeting will end in time for you to have dinner on your own and make your way to Boise 1st United Methodist Church for the Memorial Worship service and Bishop's address.

Register by May 29 to avoid late fees

If you wait until after May 29 members will be assessed a $50 late fee. After June 5  the fee increases to $75. Save $ and Register Now. Let us know as soon as possible if you will need childcare because it may not be offered due to low interest.

Don't miss Friday Banquet & Awards!

The Friday evening banquet and awards ceremony will be a fun celebration of ministries with live music, Duane Anders as MC, and an" Idaho Local" buffet including a surprise dessert!  Everyone is welcome. Buy your ticket ($30) in advance when you register. If you have already registered and wish to add this ticket you may do so by clicking on the link in your confirmation email which will take you into your registration to make changes. There will be a limited number of tickets available for sale at check-in on June 13.

Share Your Story Breakfast slated for annual conference

 It’s your turn to shine at the Share Your Story Breakfast on Friday, June 15 from 7:15 – 8:15 a.m. The event at the Riverside Hotel is hosted by The Tumbleweed Colloquy and the Fellowship of Licensed Local Pastors and Associate Members for the Oregon-Idaho Conference. Come talk with others about what is working in your small church or rural ministry.
 
If you are able to attend, please respond by June 4 (so we can plan a room to accommodate the group) via email to: umctumbleweeds@gmail.com.  Everyone is welcome! If you are registered at the hotel, there is no charge for breakfast. If you are not, the cost is $12 per person.
