Reflections on values with Camp & Retreat Ministries

You have Always been Accepted

 Value 4: Acceptance

By Larry Haley, Director at Sawtooth Camp

You see all the new arrivals coming to camp. Do you remember the first time you went to camp? Did you have any apprehension? Maybe you thought “Can I be accepted?”  How many times in your life have you asked this question?  When was the last time?  Was it very long ago?  How much time do you spend worrying about acceptance and/or miss participation in something you desire because you feel you are not or will not be accepted? Enough of the questions!

You are already accepted. It’s that simple. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (KJV).” Now THAT is acceptance.

I know, in trying to answer the questions at the beginning you were thinking of acceptance in this world.  Well, don’t!! Because we may never be accepted, at all times, in this world. Jesus Christ wasn’t accepted but by a few during his time on this earth.

So do what is right, you know what it is, regardless if it will be accepted in this mortal world.  If you don’t think you do know, then seek advice from the one who does, our heavenly Father.

Know that others (maybe some of those you see coming to camp) are seeking to be accepted and having the same doubts and struggles as you may have had.  You can share your journey with them and maybe help them to come to know what it takes to be accepted and saved.

Happy Independence Day!

Camp and Retreat Ministries wishes you and your loved ones a very happy Independence Day! Hope your celebration is enjoyable, like our 4th of July Family Camp at Magruder!
