November 27, 2019

Greetings, friends in the Oregon-Idaho Conference!

Tomorrow many of you will celebrate and give thanks with family or friends. On Sunday our hearts turn toward Advent, the beginning of the liturgical year and the season where we prepare for and anticipate the birth of Jesus the Christ.

This is my first Advent with you as the Director of Connectional Ministries and as we anticipate 2020 I am looking back at the many accomplishments of the Oregon-Idaho Conference in 2019.  I invite you to join me in celebration!

To honor the faithful ministries taking place in our local churches, celebrate the work of our Conference and the connectionalism that comes from being part of The United Methodist Church we created an Advent Calendar and resources for you to share in your local church or at home!

We developed a resource web page for our Advent celebrations, On this page you can download Advent calendars, which can used as bulletin inserts, and videos to go with the themes of each week: wonder, inspire, expect and surprise. Advent calendars are also being mailed to local churches today.

Be sure to check out our Facebook page each day during advent as we highlight different ministries and aspects of the Oregon-Idaho Conference! I know there are far more stories to celebrate than just the 28 we share during Advent and so I invite you to share your stories of celebration on our Facebook page or email them to

Just as Advent marks the anticipation of Christ’s birth, we look forward to what 2020 brings!

Wishing you joy and peace,

Laurie Day
