GNW AREA NEWS | January 27, 2022

Dear Reader,

Can screaming be considered praying? I'm asking for a friend, of course!

This newsletter comes to you amid partial-quarantining after my 3-year-old was exposed to COVID at his daycare last week (this is about the fifth time in the last year). Thankfully our tests yesterday came back negative and thankfully my husband is helping today, and thankfully we work for flexible employers and the list could go on. We are fortunate. We are privileged.

Yet it's all so exhausting and overwhelming. Naturally, I was intrigued the other day when someone shared this article about moms gathering for outdoor, primal screaming.

I. WANT. TO. SCREAM, too! I want this pandemic to end! I want people to be kind to one another! I want to eliminate racism! I want to be rid of Christian nationalism, xenophobia, homophobia and more! I want my child to be healthy and safe!

I don't know that screaming grabs God's attention any quicker than prayers that are softly whispered from our hearts. But it sure does sound cathartic ... for my friend, of course!

With grace,
Kristen Caldwell
